Tonita, the newest conversational AI shopping assistant, is now live and ready for shoppers. The platform offers a smarter, personalized, and more engaging way to browse and buy clothing online—ideal for updating your wardrobe or finding a specific outfit for an event.
Unlike traditional retail websites, Tonita caters to modern shoppers frustrated by browsing multiple tabs or facing out-of-stock sizes. It introduces an intuitive e-commerce experience that mirrors how real people think and search. Free to use, the platform becomes even more tailored when users create accounts, allowing the assistant to learn preferences and deliver better results over time.
Launching initially in fashion, Tonita allows users to search in natural language. For example, a query like, “I’m going to a formal wedding in San Francisco this summer and need dress ideas,” triggers curated results based on item type, style, location, and season. Shoppers can refine their search further—“show me more options in a size 8, that are red, made of satin and on discount”—and be directed to the verified retailer’s website to complete the purchase. If they’re not ready to buy, they can return to Tonita to keep browsing.
Tonita was founded by former Google technologist Dandapani Sivakumar, who was inspired after struggling to find a specific kitchen knife online. Realizing how search tools fail to interpret human intent, he set out to build a smarter shopping experience that translates natural queries into useful results.
“I knew exactly what I needed, but no search tool could understand my intent,” said Sivakumar. “Shopping tech hadn’t caught up to the way people actually think. I wanted something more human—something that could take what you mean and turn it into real results.”
Tonita’s AI engine pulls live product listings from both major and boutique retailers, scanning descriptions and images to deliver precise matches—even for vague queries. The platform currently focuses on clothing, a universal need and often time-consuming category, with plans to expand into other verticals such as home goods.

“Get in, Tonita. We’re going shopping.”
Tonita acts like a personal shopper for everyone—from busy professionals and fashion enthusiasts to shoppers who prefer a no-fuss approach. The platform continuously learns user preferences, including styles, sizes, and ideal budgets. For parents, it simplifies buying for growing children by tracking evolving sizing needs.
There’s no need to question availability—searches like “female running shoes in a size 7 under $100” return only in-stock, ready-to-buy results.
“We want Tonita to be like Google—universal, intuitive, and trusted,” said Sivakumar. “It’s not just a shopping assistant; it’s your virtual mall where your favorite stores and brands are curated just for you.”
