Industry pioneer David Simon has been appointed as EVP of Advertising for Mood Media and President of Vibenomics and In-Store Marketplace (ISM). His focus will be on unifying the companies’ retail media capabilities and accelerating the growth of programmatic buying across their expansive in-store advertising platforms.
Bringing significant expertise in advertising markets and technology, Simon has held leadership roles on both the buy-side and sell-side within mobile app, CTV, and web advertising. His appointment reflects a strong commitment to advancing retail media by linking powerful in-store advertising solutions with technology-driven operations.
“The advertising industry has always been marked by binary triggers: Did you search for something or visit a website? But consumers make the majority of their purchase decisions with their heart, not their mind,” said David Simon. “The last opportunity a brand has to influence a consumer’s purchasing decision is in-store at the point of purchase. There’s nobody with a bigger opportunity to reach consumers at that crucial moment than we do, as we power more physical locations than anyone else in the market.”
Simon’s leadership will center on building effective in-store advertising solutions through expanded measurement capabilities and providing buyers with flexible transaction options, including programmatic channels. The strategy is designed to move in-store media from being an optional add-on to becoming a core part of brand advertising strategies.
“Dave’s extensive programmatic background and strategic vision will help us bridge the gap between our supply and demand businesses,” said Malcolm McRoberts, CEO of Mood Media. “His leadership will be instrumental as we continue to evolve our retail media offerings and deliver greater value to both retailers and brands.”
Before joining ISM and Vibenomics, Simon served as General Manager of Moloco’s Growth Initiatives, focusing on Streaming and CTV enterprise business, where he enabled media companies to leverage machine learning for outcome-based advertising. As Chief Revenue Officer at Fyber, he scaled the mobile app ad monetization platform from $100 million to $500 million in revenue before its acquisition by Digital Turbine.
His career also includes senior roles at Jounce Media, Verizon Media, Vidible (acquired by AOL), Turn, Right Media, and Yahoo. This extensive experience across programmatic strategy, marketplace development, and revenue operations positions him to drive continued growth and innovation within Mood Media’s retail media ecosystem.
