CodeHunter, the Zero Trust for Code security company based in Tysons, Virginia, has appointed cybersecurity growth executive Stephen McCarney as its new Chief Strategy Officer, tasking him with scaling the company's go-to-market execution across enterprise and government markets.
A New Strategy Lead for Zero Trust Expansion
In his new role, McCarney will oversee corporate strategy, market expansion, strategic partnerships, and go-to-market execution as CodeHunter scales its Zero Trust for Code approach across enterprise software supply chain, endpoint, DevSecOps, and security operations environments.
Unlike traditional Zero Trust architectures, which focus on identity, devices, networks, applications, and data, CodeHunter extends the same principles directly to software itself — helping organizations decide whether code should be trusted to execute based on its behavior and intent.

A Career Built Across Zero Trust and SASE
McCarney joins CodeHunter from Merlin Group, where he served as Chief Marketing Officer helping scale disruptive cybersecurity companies serving U.S. government and critical infrastructure markets.
Earlier, he was VP of Marketing at OPAQ Networks, where he helped position one of the industry's first cloud-based SASE and Zero Trust Network Access platforms ahead of its acquisition by Fortinet. He also held senior marketing and security leadership roles at Arxan Technologies and Unisys earlier in his career.
